Big flash of lightning above Lake Washington, and low scudding clouds. Blackness. Drama! No rainbows though. mad.gif

I enjoyed the thunder & lightning today up.gif ! But I'll go broke if I don't get some rainy weather hiking freinds! When I don't have anyone to answer to, it's too easy to be lazy, so I slept in today. When I'm at home all weekend, I eventually get these marrvelous ideas (I'm always having marvelous ideas hmmm.gif ). So today I rattled Franks' cage, and we went to Pilchuck book store in Everett where I dropped a wad o' dough bigger'n Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Not 'cause I'm rich or anything, but because I'm a book junkie. That's exactly the kind of marvelous ideas I'm always having. huh.gif * *blatantly plagiarized from J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye. Now I'm > < this much closer to my goal of having an honest opportunity in real life situtations, to eventually quote or plagiarize every line in the book.

Snowed most of the day up on Sahale. 1+ ft drifts in places. Looked more like winter than the first of October up there.

Let me get this straight. You (and others here) are hoping that the snow in the mountains sticks and essentially ends the summer and fall hiking we've been gorging on? Why? It will happen eventually and last much longer than yucky old summer and fall. moon.gif

Rainin' buckets and super cool gray and black skies, flashes of lightning and immediate, booming thunder while crossing L. Wash. towards Seattle at 5pm tonight. Two motorcyclists taking cover up and under a Mercer Is. overpass, waiting it out. Two drenched pedestrians midway on the floating bridge. No coats and wearing cotton! clown.gif

Snowing hard at about 4200 feet on Pinegrass Ridge-S of Rimrock Lake-in the afternoon yesterday. Boomers around Yakima caused a short lived Severe Thunderstorm Alert yesterday-dropped penny sized hail in some areas of the Yak. Valley.

Power went off for about 10 minutes yesterday here in Edmonds during the thunderstorm. Some lightning seemed very close. Torrential rain.

Some of us would rather have 6 months of a kick ass snowboarding season rather than 5. I prefer to do all my hikes in the cold weather if this were possible... I loathe the heat and summer is over..praise be. now I must go climb whitepass today and do a naked snowdance..SNOW! moon.gif

I gotta agree with Prince K. on this one. As much as I appreciate the beauty of snow/winter and snowshoeing from time to time, I don't like the dark, short days, the winter driving, the bone-numbing cold and I don't think it's "fair" that snowboarders and skiers have such a long season to do their thing while those of us who like to hike, backpack and rock scramble/climb have a VERY short season (from about late June through mid-October). While I enjoyed seeing snow on the high ridges and peaks in the Teanaway yesterday I couldn't help but feel that the mountains are closing their doors again -- at least for me. frown.gif Karen

Tazz...luscious! Porn for us biggrin.gif Just looked at White Pass...and there is snow in the hills! Karen, I do understand....I am fine with it till say, febuary, then I get all ancy to get out and hike. And there are only so many times one can hike the coast and low valleys in the Olympics..... But on the other hand....it has been 3 winters since we had a good winter if I am correct?? I'd like to show Synchro that it DOES really snow in WA state wink.gif
