there's a long discussion about this dude, and about the 'contract' in Metafilter
despicable actions from his part, and who knows what low self-esteem prompted her to stay in the relationship until her eventual escape.

Certainly there are women who would agree to some of that if it were *asked* and not demanded. If they felt loved and desired, and if they were receiving as much (or more) from him they might agree to some of that stuff.

I knew a guy like this once. Met a girl in England while he was in the service, married her and brought her back here. Anne was her name. Nice, smart girl, good cook, you could do a whole lot worse.
The guy went from being what she described as charming and caring to being a brutal control freak almost overnight back here. Kept her and their daughters up in one of the canyons outside of Cashmere in a little trailer. She finally removed herself from him...she thought. He's in prison now, permanently, she's in the ground and their three daughters actually turned out O.K., being raised by a family a few miles away in a different part of town.
These guy's have the same mental makeup as a serial killer, in that their entire existence is self serving and determined to CONTROL everything that they can around them in the most demented and sneaky way possible. Generally this twist has a violent and sexual focus and I do not believe that they can ever be what most of us would consider normal. My attitude is that the best thing to do with them is to remove them from life or at the very least, NEVER let them out of the slammer. I don't normally have any violent tendencies, but these sorts just bring out the worst in me, sorry.
