I voted "just leave it", but seconds later stumbled on this article on the internet (like what are the chances????) saying that chocolate stimulates brain activity. Is there any way to change my vote to "pick it up and eat it and scour the floor for more"?

if you vote twice for pick it up and eat it and once for just leave it , the net result will be one vote for pick it up and eat it embarassedlaugh.gif

It would depend if it was a plain M&M or one with peanuts.. if nuts are involved.. I might pick it up..inspect and eat.. the plain can be left for the mice up.gif

An M&M I would just leave for the mice. A piece of toblerone, symphony bar, or other really good chocolate I would pick up and eat with no second thoughts. If there was stuff stuck to it, I would rinse it off first. Hey, you gotta have some standards, right?

Chocolate is a natural de-germifier (it's too got not to be), but the candy coating of an M&M prevents it from working, so I'd have to leave it.

There's no category for "Pick it up and eat it even if someone is looking." This is a very nebulous subject, and discussion/arguments are as vast as the universe. The 10 second rule is relative. For instance, an M&M can sit on the floor for years, and still be good enough to eat. I picked and ate Good & Plenty candies for years after my nephew dumped them all over the car. Seemed every time I went to that car to look for sumpin', I'd mine up a few Good & Plenty's. However, if the M&M were dropped onto a pile of pig plop, the candy may be rendered icky, even if rinsed. A piece of blueberry pie pr a glob of pudding or an ice-cream cone dropped onto the sidewalk is good as far as it can be peeled off and eaten without getting into grit. A cupcake, however requires a simple peeling off of grit. Back to the M&M - if dropped in mud, it can still be rinsed (use cold water so it's not melted). There are many considerations to dropping stuff and picking them up for consumption.

I'm trying to cut down on my candy intake on account of me being fat and all, but if I was in the mood I'd eat it. I see my kids eat enough stuff off the floor and they're still going strong so it can't be too bad.

I would have to say it depends on what floor. My own floor, yes. Even maybe the floor of the break room at work, maybe. Really public areas, no way, though it probably would help to build up my immune system even faster than just eating off my own floors. BTW - The 10 second rule is bunk. Mythbusters disproved it. frown.gif
