I guess my answer was a little ambiguous. Did I get a cell phone? Hell NO!

So like which is worse, the gas or the Apocalypse?

I got a cell phone a few weeks ago. My first since 1995, when I threw the one I had out the window and tried to hit Lake Washington with it (ex-husband was bugging me. I don't know why I didn't just turn the damn thing off). Well, I missed the lake, and it shattered against the cement wall (I have a very small car. It was a year before I realized there was a lake under that stretch of road - I couldn't ever see over the wall).
Anyway, I didn't bother with one, and one day, all the sudden I had a contest with Stefan to see who could hold out longest.
I held out despite several near-disasters when a cell phone could have helped me out (ever try to make a long distance call on a payphone? It takes a Philadelphia lawyer to figure it out. I'm no Philadelphia lawyer, so I languished in DFW for 2 hours before my brother found me).
anyway, I finally got one, and damned if the first time I needed it, the battery was dead (I couldn't figure out how to charge it - the electric prongs were folded into the housing and I didn't know what the hell they were. I have since figured that out).
I never remember the phone number. No one ever calls me on it 'cause I never know what the number is, so I don't give it out (the number, I mean).
So anyway, Stefan laughed his skinny ass off when I conceded. I don't even know why I had that secret bet with him - I should have known I could never win: he's so damn tight, while I don't even know the meaning of the word.

I'm using the #7 definition.

If all your looking for is emergency communication, try Tracfone. They have a special right now (don't they always???). For $20 you can get a cell phone with 2 months service and 120+ anywhere anytime minutes. At the end of 2 months you can throw the phone away. Or, you can purchase another 2 months and 60 minutes for $20.
They don't send any monthly bills.
You can also purchase a yearly card with 250 minutes for $100. I've had one for over a year and really like it.
Check out the special Here
The above link may not be good after Sept. 2006.
