Inspired by the discussion in this thread I ask you this - How many pairs of undies do you bring for a one-week backpack? Select an option in the poll above, then discuss below I'm in the 'grab a handful' camp, I figure I can always wash while on the trail...

Unless you are doing alot of glissading, it seems like it wouldn't need a backup pair. uhh.gif

I don't know what happened to your post Dane! would you mind reposting? I made a small edit to my message beneath the poll, and all of a sudden, the poll became separated from the message thread. would you mind reposting please? thank you

2 is the magic number. They are never washing machine nice, but at least semi-clean. I'll never be an alpinist.

I have two non-negotiables.. clean underware and clean socks. I can do without anything else.. (well, ok.. must have water), but that is it.

I find for a week long trip 3 pairs seems to work. I guess 4 if you include the set of clean clothes I leave back in the vehicle at the trailhead.

Two, one pair worn while the other is either already clean or drying.

I refuse to participate in this poll. Someone might think I have nothing better to do than to post in an underwear thread.

Underwear.... Isn't that extra pack weight? Is that on the 10 essentials list? One per day, just like socks. Somethings you cannot skimp on, and clean underwear and socks are it. I haven't encountered it yet, but I really don't meet other hikers in the outback and see underwear hanging on the outside of their packs drying.

Lol..at least I inspired this poll lol.gif I do carry an extra pair these days. One can dry while I wear the other. Used to not though. But they'd get a bit cardboard-y after a couple days lol.gif
