I'll be out hiking on what is likely the worst weekend of the year to go to a popular hiking place. Starting to think that staying home for a barbque might be smarter. Lets here some of the alternatives folks are considering to beat the hordes.

Week long Oregon coast adventure!

Heading to Canada - maybe. Not sure if it will be less crowded but going to test the theory.

Since I boneheadedly blew our entertainment money on concert tickets we can't get to anyway because of the expensive ferry involved.......
We'll pull up our lawnchairs and watch RVs dodge around the motorcycles, horses, bikes, and idiots trying to walk through the whole mess on Silver Lake Rd. (I walked from my place into town once. That was one of the dumbest things I've ever done.) Then it's off to our regular market booth on Sunday to sell soap to all those people. In the evening I'll probably head to Silver Lake to lose some more lures in the logs and weeds. Maybe I'll actually catch a fish or something - stranger things have happened.

It does sound old-fartish, doesn't it?
I suppose we can do some more potato cannon research...

I can offer free advice...let me know
Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

I opted to work all weekend, but then I get ten days off to play while the tourons go back to work!
There's a mostly unspoken acknowledgment among the voluntarily impoverished that it's better to be fiscally poor yet rich in experience-living the dream-than to be traditionally wealthy but live separate from one's passions.

Oooh, hippie bazookas.
I should buy a can of Right Guard and bag of spuds this weekend, let the old girl clear her throat. ...seeing as how my pack didn't come until last night spiraling my plans into oblivion. Thanks for the idea Jen!!

You know the propane canisters for the 2 burner camp stoves? Those fly really well with some ether used as the propellant.

I have dreaded this all my life, and here it is. The day the girth of my barrel comes into question...
