Yup, the FS is the red-headed stepchild. With the recent storm damage (on top of the remaining damage from 2003) the step-child not only is red-headed, but crippled, too.
The new NP budget is nice, but they need to play catch-up too - the money, though nice - isn't necessarily a big boon - it's what they should have had all along. The new budget doesn't take the new damage into consideration. Still, it's more than they had before. Even if the NP didn't receive more, but retained only as much as they had before, it's better than what the FS got, which is

There was a ten percent cut to national parks last year and there was a slated additional ten percent cut to parks this year. Does the proposed raise cacel out the cuts? Is this just a shell game?
