Went out with Greg to the Granite Falls area. This trip was exactly the same way Fay did this outing several moons ago.
Originally we were going to be in the Wenatchee Lake area but we were scared off from the rain and made plans. It turned out it only rained .6 inches all day at Wenatchee Lake and this Pineapple express went much further north than anticipated.
We had only one rain shower on us all day. But we sure had lotsa wind.
We left from the Masonic Gate north of Granite Falls at 8:30 and went through another gate. I went up Miniature (1240+) (440’P), while Greg bypassed this peak because he had done it earlier in his lifetime. The top of Miniature has some thinned small trees you have to get through. Not too far off from the road.
Next up was “Siberia” (2280+) (1440’P). We followed a road to very near the top. The top is at the SW of the closed contour. A cat track ends a slab like rock with moss on it. We found a higher point…maybe 5 feet higher about 30 yards to the NE of this slablike rock. Must work through the bushes to get there.
On to Dahlberg (280’P). Down we went and found a road going around the SW side of Dahlberg and up. This was the best views for the day. We believe the highest point of Dahlberg is next to the old snag there. It is a large old tree stump with springboard cutouts. We surmounted this stump.
Then on to Golan Heights (440’P). We followed the mainroad up around to the very end on the west side of the peak. From the very end is a faint cat track to the forest and then cross country to a summit that has a minor cliff to the south and east. Forested. No views. I recommend going up and down this way because the logged area is pretty bad with slash everywhere.
We got down at 2:30 and went on to do Peak 1020+ (440’P) next to Roesiger Lake. There is now a gate there since Paul visited the located several months ago. There is also quite a bit of garbage on this road. Yucko. We followed the road up and found the slash pile Paul talked about and surmounted the pile just to the east of the road. I do no repeat…and this is definitely one not even thinking about repeating. Now I am done with the Lake Roesiger Quad!

Whoa. Is that pile of trash considered the summit cairn?
Nope. Garbage was about .3 miles from the gate. People dumping garbage would never go 2 yards beyond the road to dump their stuff--that would take too much work!
