Jim and I hiked up to lower Twin Lakes south of Mount Hood on Sunday. There's still lots of snow about and very little of the shoreline is yet melted out.
After making camp we cross country'd up to the ridge top above Palmateer Creek and napped in the sunshine below Mount Hood. Then we hiked west in the softening snow across the PCT to another ridge top at about 4900 feet.
We didn't regret leaving the snowshoes behind but the snow got softer as the day wore on. The lake re-froze that night. We didn't see a soul Sunday or Monday as we came out.
Trillium were out Most of the shoreline not yet melted out. One of the few tent sites. Mountain, what mountain? Mount Hood in the background
