Now folks will be venturing up to Rainier looking for this neat Mear Snowfield, while "wondering" near Boy Scouts in igloos. huh.gif biggrin.gif

Is it just me or is this is eerily reminiscent of the noruot talk by rabras?

Well it's no different than the hiking on Normandy Beach! hockeygrin.gif BW

Nope, he's been posting awhile at WTA. I have to admit I thought it was Sarbar at first biggrin.gif but Rainier was spelled correctly. clown.gif clown.gif Maybe he was just at Cape Meares on the ORE coast recently.

That would be a delightful hike if they hadn't despoiled the area with pillboxes and acres of military cemeteries! rant.gif

Don't disparage the touron species! I notice the link no longer works. What's up with that? It worked this morning.

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

Actually it USED to be the Muir Glacier but, since global warming it has changed into a mere snowfield. I think this happened about the same time the Paradise Glacier and world famous ice caves disappeared clown.gif

It actually resembles a more recent post, which was an equally necessary and positive response to another trip report. Quote: "Thanks for telling us all something we didn't already know! clown.gif clown.gif clown.gif up.gif " I hope poor spellers and those visiting "unworthy" destinations continue to report on their trips. It provides information for some, and provides a handy way for others to elevate themselves by stepping on the unfortunate contributors. vent.gif

No, it was doing a public service for those going to Rainier and who might be unfamiliar with the Mear Snowfield. The WTA poster obviously thought it was spelled correctly because it was spelled that way 3 times. huh.gif As for the Mt. Si report, I did not imply that his or anyone else's report was "unworthy", I was merely teasing him for the obvious (to most) fact that the Mt. Si trail is indeed very, very popular & when arriving at 11am on a sunny weekend it will probably be that way so no surprise there. rolleyes.gif And I thought by adding extra clowns that would show I was kidding him. tongue.gif Actually, Pepper, Steak 'N Ale didn't seem too bothered with it, gave a good-natured reply.

Maybe I read a more of a belittling tone into those comments than what you really intended. My feedback was meant to be a bit overstated to possibly give a voice to what others may have been thinking. Remember what a wise man once said in defense of a group (not a specific person) being targeted for some "teasing." Quote: "I myself think it's sort of a smug, self-righteous label [tourons] to give to the vast majority of outdoor visitors. Kinda like someone prefacing a comment about you as a "gun-toting/blasting" outdoorsperson, with snide meaning..." I'm not specifically defending peppersteak'n'ale or the Mear guy. And I'm not against humor at my expense if it's too perfect to pass up. I'm more concerned for that person who has a little scrap of information that I need, but will never see, 'cause he or she finds this to be an inhospitable place to share.

I think this happens a lot on the internet. I get accused of it all the time, because sarcasm doesn't come through all that well in this medium. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Everyone dogpile on Peppersteak for TRing Mount Si.
