Come out to the Buckhorn & roll with the homies! We're planning an overnight backpacking trek based out of the Sequim side of the Buckhorn Wilderness. Meet at PetCo in Sequim, Saturday July 2nd at 10 AM. We'll rearrange cars & people at the meeting point, then drive up to the Tubal Cain trailhead. We'll be base-camping at the bottom of the face housing the mines. This is about 3.5 miles down the trail. Since the trek to camp is so short, weight shouldn't be an issue: you can bring your Mountain House if you really want, but most of us aren't going to rough it when it comes to food! Campsites out here are DOPE! Plenty of space, fire pits & dry ground! Bring all your standard backpacking gear, but don't forget your swimming trunks! Saturday, we can explore around the mines, go swimming, search for mushrooms (there's a recent burnoff down the trail a ways...morels???), etc. Sunday, we'll cross to the trail that heads to Buckhorn Pass & do some more huckin'. This is also a somewhat-send-off, since I will be leaving for Seattle/Everett on July 18 & probably won't have time to do another overnight... Hope to see some of you out there!
