A fun ridge hike/scramble that circumnavigates the northern source of the Middle Fork Teanaway River. Starting from the north end of DeRoux Campground (~3800') we used a combination of the Boulder DeRoux Trail, DeRoux Spur Trail and Middle Fork Teanaway Trail as we crossed over the Koppen/DeRoux saddle to reach a large meadow at 5100 feet on the south side of DeRoux Peak... where we headed cross-country to the saddle (~5500') between Points 5885 and 6080+... then turned east and followed a game trail to the top of 5885. Leaving Point 5885 we returned to the saddle and continued west to Point 6080+ on the ridge that connects The Louvre and DeRoux Peak... then continued north along the ridge to the summit of DeRoux Peak (6260')... then continued a mile along DeRoux's east ridge before following the ridge SE down to the Koppen/DeRoux saddle where we closed the loop portion of our hike... then made the 2.5 mile trail hike back to our car. 10.7 miles roundtrip, gaining 3875 feet of elevation. Very hazy views today due to all of the wildfire activity... could barely see the Stuart Range. Photos, Trailhead directions and downloadable GPS track of our trip to DeRoux Peak and Point 5885. ..

"Teanaway 70" Peaks List... a guide to hiking and scrambling in the Teanaway Area. ----------------
