Made the 3.5 hour drive for one last visit to the Entiat before incoming storms. Started hiking at 8:30am and made the summit just after 11. It was still early enough that I could have walked the ridge out to Point 7936 but I decide to save that one for an eventual trip to Fern Lake.
I ran into a hunter riding a motorcycle and had a pleasant chat with him but saw nobody else on the trail. Many hunters camping along the sides of the road though which is a bit bumpy the last couple of miles but passable in any car.
Larch are past prime but the views from the top are great. Threatening weather was coming in from the north so things will be changing around here soon.
I was was wishing I had brought a bike on the walk through burnt forest out.
60 degrees back at the car at 5100.'
Approaching the top.
Duncan Hill.
Larch along the trail.
Looking west over the Entiat Valley.
Larchy area below the summit.
Taking the south ridge instead of the trail to finish.
Is that the Duncan Hill on the way to Pyramid peak?
It's in that general area but off of the main Entiat Rd. Duncan Ridge Rd takes off at about 4.5 miles from the end of the road or you can go up Anthem Ck 2.2 miles up the Entiat River Trail. Distances are similar but the Duncan Ridge Trail has the advantage of starting 2000' higher.
