Hello. I plan to go hiking in the High Uintas and Wasatch Range in the second week of October. I expect the high in the Uintas to be around 40 with the low below 20. My strategy for footwear is to wear a thin merino wool liner sock, with waterproof Sealskinz socks on top. My shoes are NON-waterproof trail runners. I also have microspikes if it snows. I also have goretex gaiters to cover my ankles and prevent water from entering from the top of the waterproof socks. When I stop at camp at night, I plan to wear different socks with down booties and camp slippers under. Will this set up keep my feet from freezing during cold weather while hiking in cold rain and snow? Thank you!
