My OG Reactor isn't burning nearly as hot as when it was new. The branded insert only turns a dull orange. I've read a few things about a nut that needs tightening but also that there could be dust/dirt in the foam that sits under the mesh. I could take it to the MSR repair shop (is it still in Sodo?) but I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue and was able to solve it themselves at home. Is the foam (i think it's foam?) inside the burner removable and could I possibly just rinse it out?

MSR is owned by Cascade designs. Their website has a fairly easy return set up. Fill out a little form and they send you a number to include with the product that you were returning. I don’t believe that they take returns in person. Gotta mail it in.

I've taken stuff to their repair shop in sodo unannounced and they took care of me right away.

They don't do that any more. You have to mail it in. I just sent my reactor in to fix and they said it was too old & gave me a discount on a new burner. From their website:

What is the Repair Shop location and hours? Our Repair Shop remains CLOSED to walk-in customers but we are accepting packages by mail. See the information below to start the return process.

They sent me a brand new Uber light inflatable to replace my three year old leaker…didn’t charge me anything.

FYI - the foam insert is NOT foam. It's a firm mystery material that can easily crumble if pressed. It's like solidified foam. It reminds me of that (old school?) flower arrangement firm foam stuff that you poke stems into and turns to dust if you smash it. So, I'll just send in my stove. Also the mesh screen isn't removable because it's crimped into the rim of the stove.
