I was up at Paradise this afternoon and was curious what the annual snowfall was to date. It's at 603 inches with a little over 1 month to go.
Also, the person that took the famous lenticular cloud shot was working there and related some interesting information about the event (the ensuing storm dumped 9 feet of snow w/ 100mph winds).
I've never seen that photo before. Wow!! Just awesome.

It's pretty safe to say that if we take all of man kinds accumulated knowledge, we still don't know everything. So, I hope you understand why I don't believe you know everything. But then again, maybe you do.

That has got to be simply the most phenomenal photograph I've ever seen of Mount Rainier! And to think how happy I was when I finally got my lenticular cloud photos this spring....geez.
Wow, that one is scary awesome!
I wonder when the road opened to Paradise this year?

The photographer, Ron Warfield, took the photo in 1997. He said the cloud changed quite a bit and he took 130+ pictures of it as it was so phemonenal. One was published in the Tacoma News Tribune the following day. If you read the about the photographer section in the link, he was Assistant Chief park Naturalist for ten years and shares an interest with others on this board in big trees. He also helped author a book on Crater Lake.
