Trip Report Comment Policy
Given the recent trend of TRs hijacked by arguments and "spray" we are implementing a policy to stop this. If you have an issue with something in a Trip Report, send a PM or take it to another part of the forum and start a generic discussion. Thanks. Edit: since some are confused about the new policy, here's some clarification:
NWHikers.net - Website Use Disclaimer
Many of the activities discussed on NWHikers.net are potentially dangerous. Exploration of wild and/or mountainous areas involves unavoidable risks including the risk of serious bodily injury and death. Such risks include, but are not limited to, slips, falls, equipment failure, animal attacks, injury or illness in remote places, bad or stormy weather, and other hazards. Some of these hazards are unavoidable. Neither NWHikers.net nor its operators, administrators, moderators, or posters warrant the accuracy of information posted on NWHikers.net. Those who rely on information appearing on NWHikers.net do so at their own risk.
The operators, administrators, moderators, and posters of this website accept no liability whatsoever relating to the information or advice found on this website. Backcounry travel is inherently dangerous. Conditions can change quickly. Always supplement information found on this website with other sources and go prepared. All posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the operators, administrators, or moderators.
NWHikers.net - Registration Terms
You consent to information you have entered in your profile being stored in a database. While non-public information such as email address will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent (unless required by law), you agree the webmaster, administrator and moderators are not liable for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
You agree the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. You acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster.
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned and your service provider being informed. The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. If you just can't get along with other people, and seem to repeatedly cause trouble, eventually we will decide that your presence is a disruption and will ban you. Continued disruptive behavior or excessive abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
You agree to consider whether your contribution adds value to this site each and every time you post. Is it positive? Is it helpful? Will it make people want to return to this site and be part of this community? If not don't post. Nothing wrong with healthy debate but keep it civil, refrain from personal attacks, and remember this site is what you choose to make it. NWHikers should be a respite from politics and divisive topics in favor of those that foster and build community. If it's divisive or highly contentious and not outdoor related it's pseudo-politics and off limits at NWHikers. You agree to check such discussions at the door.
UPDATE (9/3/2020): We are implementing a stricter posting standard. Call it the family rule. Treat this community as you would your family. Give others the benefit of the doubt. Be constructive if raising a valid criticism. Check your negativity at the door. If you have an issue with something in a trip report send a private message instead of calling someone out publicly. Treat others as you would like to be treated. If you just come here to argue, please don't. The bar on the internet may be low, but it really isn't hard to be nice. If you bring negativity to the forum you will be asked to leave.
NWHikers is committed to providing a public service to the hiking community for many years to come. As part of this commitment we place a high priority on web continuity and cache external images embedded in posts to minimize dependence on external sites. If you no longer wish your images to be cached here, simply remove them from your posts and we will no longer cache or display them. If your content has been posted on NWHikers without your permission please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our best to remove the content in a timely manner.
Other Posting Rules
You are free to discuss firearms / hunting in this topic within the guidelines of the first post. Outdoor related political discussion within the context of public lands should be limited to the stewardship forum. Other political discussion is off limits at NWHikers.
Link to our policy
|Mean spirited, nit-picky debate is what isn't allowed.
-Dropping in on a trip report to pick apart the grammar or spelling.
-Posting about how stupid someone is for having a dog at a certain place.
-Posting that somebody is only inviting drama.
Those are just some recent examples of what we're clamping down on. Good natured back and forth conversations are totally fine.
Basically, in trip reports, we're asking you all to stop and think about what you're typing. Be nice. Be polite. If you have an honest criticism, raise it in a PM or separate thread. It's just that simple.|
