Nice, Karen. I bet the flowers were much more still then than at sunset?

Actually the breeze was minimal at sunrise and sunset; great for photos but made the skeeters insufferable.

Flawless Trevor, simply gorgeous! Glad you got out for those nice sunsets! up.gif
Indeed - nice job! Makes me want to get back up there soon. It's amazing how many different moods one spot can demonstrate.

Karen - good job braving the skeeters. I'm curious to see more from that trip!

I have never seen such an array of colors in a sunset than we saw on Friday and Saturday nights. The sky was constantly changing colors in all directions. PIB and I ran around taking pictures until after midnight. The horizon glowed bright red for 1.5 hours after sunset and then the full moon rose! I think I've taken more photos in 2 days than I've taken on week long trips! embarassedlaugh.gif

I've gotta overnight there sometime, or at least get my pals to hang for a headlamp hike back home. Or start hiking with other photographers...

You sure he's not a super villain? It looks awfully like what I always imagined a secret lair would... (After the cloaking device was disabled and the landing pad was visible.)

Great shots. I can see hiking to it. But the tin can with a rotor on top would have me on edge the whole time. wink.gif

...wait...are we just going to hang here or go hiking?

i don't think there is a trail to muncaster mtn. although kloochman may have one with a ford of the queets river, but may be abandoned, don't know.

It's a pressure-treated wood and galvanized steel structure bolted to the top of the rock. You can see it from Andrews Field ( about 1.5 miles up the trail ). There's a repeater box on it for telecommunications. Other than for electronic communications to assist with mundane things such as search-and-rescue missions, it serves no useful purpose. I will submit, however, that it is a much more comfortable surface to sit on than the rock was, especially considering it was totally covered with broken glass. ( If you look down from the south face you can see quite a pile of broken glass just below it. ) The panorama of the south face of the Olympics from the top is incomparable. Access via foot or mountain bike via the DNR roads that thread up along the Clearwater- about 2 or 3 miles past Yahoo Lake.
