Anyone catch Neil Tues night at WaMu? What a solid performance. (imagine that) His wife opened for him with a respectable acoustic performance.
Neil's first hour was pure acoustic and piano. Just Neil on stage. He could have quit with that and the crowd would have been satisfied. But after a short intermission he came back and scorched the sold out crowd for an hour and a half with some of the finest and powerful electric Neil Young I have ever heard. Most of it new!
Very few oldies, mostly new stuff. No talking between songs. Just business. What an artist.

How about the stuff he did with Pearl Jam on Mirrorball? "Peace and Love" and "Downtown" are both some pretty sweet tunes...

Mirror Ball was great effort. It was a joint effort with Pearl Jam. But it was clear who was in the Command Seat. It's a Neil Young album, with the younger men gladly paying their due respects.

There are to many to count, but I like "Powderfinger" with Crazy Horse "Live".

I have to second "Powderfinger".
As for best Neil Young record, I have to go with Harvest.

Sugar Mountain
How could that not be on the list!?
Oh yah, you can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain...
Maybe that explains the oversight?.....
Some real good ones to chose from though.

A website that offers what appears to be the lyrics for every song Neil young ever wrote ( and there are hundreds):
www.azlyrics.com/y/young.html
And once again here on NWHikers, I recommend the website "Concert Vault" to the forum. In addition to a plethora of other artists - live Neil Young is offered under several monikers.
www.concerts.wolfgangsvault.com
Look under "Y" in the "performers" link for Young, Neil, or under "N" for Neil Young and Crazy horse, or under "C" for any of several combinations of CSN&Y.
With all that said, my personal fav among a myriad of fave Neil young tunes.... "I Think I Need a Maid". I donno why that strikes such a chord in my gut, but it does and that's that...

LP? After the Gold Rush
"These are the places you will find me hiding'...These are the places I will always go."
(Down in the Valley by The Head and The Heart)
"Sometimes you're happy. Sometimes you cry.
Half of me is ocean. Half of me is sky."

Yeah, that one usually gets my vote for his best. NY w/Crazy Horse (or is the album named Everybody Knows This is Nowhere?) and Harvest are right up there too. Tough for me to pick just one album, much less just one song.

*NEW Neil Young Release
Looks like this must be the one to revive, about all things Neil Young, Mal's 15 year old thread. After hearing/reading a few interviews about his latest release, Barn, I can't stop - addictive in the best way. Here's a couple I find quite soothing.

My fave is “Four Strong Winds” but just checked and realized that’s an Ian Tyson tune that Neil covered a long time ago. Oops.

But all time favorite album is
Everybody knows this is nowhere.
1st album with crazy horse.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.
