This is one of those short hikes (route dependent) you can do in between the other actvities of the day, if your local, or as part of one of several hikes if your in the area. An excellent winter snowshoe also. You have quick access from Wenatchee to an old lookout on the summit of Bee Hive 4580' with unobscured views into Teanaway - Stuart / Enchantments - Glacier Peaks Areas, between and beyond. The Liberty Beehive Rd. is clear to the reservoir, and has only small sections of passable snow to the Devils Gulch TH around 5000'.
It was a HOT mutha in Wenatchee, so Nettie and I decided to take a hike.
We ended up taking an off trail route to Bee Hive's summit, the brush is fairly low density with maybe 500' of gain, if that.
Glacier Lillies were everywhere. Nettie Mission Peak Nearing the summit.
The ground was already getting crunchy in places, there were some Balsam Root, but mainly quite a few Glacier Lillies. Once on the summit we were disappointed at the views which today were obscured by haze, to the point where most were silhouettes. There may have been some controlled burning by the FS in the area.
South side of Horse Lake Mtn. Looking N at Wenatchee and the Columbia River. Burch Mtn / Eagle Rock and the Burch Ridge with Stormy Mtn in the distant background. A neat picture of the plateauish summit area of Pitcher Mt. from the South. Nettir on the summit, site of an old lookout with Mission Peak in the background. Mt. Lillian / Lillian Ridge Stuart and Argonaut silhouettes stand out in the haze.
I remembered Steve and I slogging up the peak from the N via Halverson Ridge in the winter.
We had a snack then left the summit meandering down to the Western reservoir which I had never been to before, one couple was fishing, the reservoirs completely thawed as well as several low lying marshy areas.
The frogs were sounding off filling the air. The brush became a little denser, which reinforced why I always wear pants and eventually we made it back to the vehicle with minimal collateral damage. I wish Jeanette could have enjoyed the views (We was robbed )
Ridge with section of the Western reservoir seen below. Trillium Marshy areas from the recent snow melt. Bee Hive Reservoir Overlapping ridges and mountains obscured by haze with Glacier Peak in the background. Trillium 6 labels Naneum Ridge - Naneum Peak-Wenatchee Mtn - Mission Peak - Mission Ridge

Yes, hoping for some views, which are usually good off the ridge. The haze to the West was just to thick.
