Not sure if this site is really craving another Stuart report, but creating this felt like a most excellent way to indulge in procrastination/avoidance of sleep. Considering I don't necessarily want to traipse around in debris-laden-crusted snow, it appeared that the Stuart lake area was the most suitable area; this is of course due to my satiation over the many servings of Colchuck lake I've had on my plate. And finally I can announce that the hike was a non-fail. When the rate of hiking failure declines, I declare summer. It felt fantastic to stretch the legs over a bit longer distance, and to asses my fitness level up the few-rocky inclines. Basically only one small section of snow on the trail as of last week, which made for a brisk pace; a pace that ended up being entirely necessary considering I had to kill about four hours with mass-thumb twiddling waiting for sunset at the destination. This was quite an exceptional situation taking into account I generally leave the trail heads two hours or less before sunset. Stuart lake presents a beautiful scene: rugged-snow-capped peaks jutting out of a lake shimmering from the hanging sun. There is one dilemma I encountered at this lake, though:an utter lack of beach. It's one of those areas that appealed more to my eyes than my camera. Not surprisingly, the lake appears to be at a pretty high volume. Stuart lake obviously wasn't appealing to me as much photogenically, so I meandered over to meadows to look for some tasty treats. And what lay before in the alpine oven were a plenitude of tasty-pink morsels ( don't have an id for the flowers yet). With the lazy curves, rugged backdrop and fruitful flowers, the meadow area is more than visually adequate. I took a seat on an ant-harboring log and enjoyed the light show. The hike back down into the black forest and the drive home culminated a 16hour+ day trip, which appears to be a new personal best.

#5 is excellent@!@! Great work again Trevor

There's a mostly unspoken acknowledgment among the voluntarily impoverished that it's better to be fiscally poor yet rich in experience-living the dream-than to be traditionally wealthy but live separate from one's passions.

Nothing out of the ordinary for the Trebster. Nice work.

ditto.gif up.gif up.gif All of them are great, but I especially love the abstractness (is that a word?) of this photo.

Opinions expressed here are my own.

If the flowers in 9 are the same as 6 and 7, they're Shooting Stars.
