Packpup and I just ordered our trail food for an upcoming trip to the Teanaway. Over the years we have sampled much fare, but after our six-day trip to the Enchantments last summer, we are currently stuck on Enertia Trail Foods. Check them out at www.Trailfoods.com.

I'm thinking now about ordering the sampler.
So...in your opinion (and I know that can be subjective when it comes to food) do you like these foods better than most others? Any favorites?

Packpup and I tend to take five to seven day backpacking trips, and the heaviest item that we carry and that which takes most room in our packs is the food. Enertia Trail Foods weigh less, are less bulky, and taste great. They also have a higher fat content that is very satisfying and seems to be quite filling, and their foods are not freeze dried. This family owned business has great customer service and it is evident that they take great pride in their products.
PS, now that I read the rest of your message. Packpup and I have much different tastes when it comes to food. I would say that if the ingredients sound good that it would taste great. One of our favorite snacks is the squeezers that we add to our Pilot Crackers. I prefer the PB/Jelly combo; my wife likes the cheese squeezers. Otherwise all the dinners are great depending on what your favorite meals are.

Has anybody seen this...
...in stores yet? Peanut butter and chocolate, in a pre-packaged tube like those Go-gurt things my daughter loves. Mmmm, chocolate and peanut butter! It would be convenient but I already have those tubes I use for peanut butter...hmmm...
A fuxk, why do I not give one?

Safeway has them in Des Moines and Oak Harbor. I am figuring my son will LOVE them as he loves anything in a freaking tube Have you also seen the Peanut Butter in the toothpaste-style tube? Should be good for this summer.

Do these Enertia single servings really fill you up? I am a small person but always eat the entire meals from other brands, like AlpineAire, that say they serve two.

They filled me up when I tried them-the taste is much different than freezedried food, much more like normal food.

Hey you guys, watch out for all that packaging. I know it's cute but it ain't the right thing for our landfills. We need to teach our kids about this. It's interesting taking a tour of the Cedar Hills landfill. I know these are small, but it's an attitude thing...

I was wondering about that packaging. I don't suppose it's recyclable?

It still isn't any worse than all the excess pkging that freezedried food comes with-and it doesn't have foil backed packing either!

That's the problem with freeze dried packages too. Less packaging -- it's the right thing to do! Same for citified eatin' too.

The packaging of Enertia Trail Foods is significantly less than the other major brands of freeze dried foods. With freeze dried foods I needed at least a 600-calorie dinner to feel satiated. With Enertia Trail Foods 400 calories is enough.

the new mountain house pouches have about half of the packaging that they used to have. no more inner pouch, and a ziplock is built into what was the outer. still rather bulky to pack, and the material is still foil-backed.. but it's a move in the right direction.
