Tour du Mont Blanc, Part 1, July 24-July 30
Stage 7 La Fouley to Champex, 15.5K, gain 450m; loss 570m; high point 1600m at La Fouley
view from hotel room in La Fouley waterfalls trail with handrails Crete de Saleina. Crete is a moraine, now heavily wooded at Les Arlaches, building example of Valaisian village architecture Champex-Lac, fed by glacial waters hotel in Champex zoom on mountain peak at sunset typical flower power on buildings!
Stage 8 Champex to Trient, 18.5K, gain 740m*; loss 880m*; high point 1987m at Alp Bovine *unsure of stats
via Bovine route
at Champex good-bye sign blueberries! beautiful swiss house....do you see Amy and me? this ridge reminded me of Klahhane Ridge! bocce ball tournament in switzerland! who knew? bovines at the Alp Bovine area Rhone valley, i think Col de la Forclaz, 1526m arriving at Trient Relais Mt. Blanc. delicious meal! very cute toilet tissue holder Julie and Paul from England! awesome couple!
Stage 9 Trient to Argentiere, 15K, gain 1100m; loss 1160m; high point 2201m at Aiguillette des Posettes, Col de Balme…border into France
leaving Trient Trient glacier, i think approaching Col de Balme, 2191m. looking at the Chamonix valley from the Col de Balme icky weather along the Aiguillette des Posettes! wooden steps along the trail hotel at Argentiere
heavy rain, thunder and lightning after we arrived at our hotel
Stage 10 Argentiere to La Flegere, 10K, gain 1140m; loss 510m; high point 2352m at Lac Blanc
fog along the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve ladder climb area looking back down the ladders ladders near Lac Blanc wooden steps near Lac Blanc peaks reflecting in Lac Blanc peaks peeking Refuge de la Flegere, WTF, no potable water! okay meals
Stage 11 La Flegere to Les Houches, 15.5K, gain 720m; loss 1570m; high point 2525m at Le Breven
Finally, best view of Mont Blanc
MONT BLANC on left peak near Mont Blanc Mont Blanc on right near Mont Blanc part of Grand Balcon Sud part of Grand Balcon Sud Col du Brevent, 2368m ibex ladder climb new Israeli friends Mont Blanc and glaciers what a view! totally awesome trail down down down towards Les Houches looking back to La Flegere trail with hand rails always great to have Christ-Roi (Christ-King) near the end of a fabulous trek! YAHOO! back at Tourist Information Center in Les Houches! these boots were made for hiking!
that's it! well almost.....i was then off to Zermatt, Switzerland for a few more days of hiking!
i am so lucky to have been able to do this adventure!

what beautiful views! love the via ferratas, those ladders looked fierce! did you bring a carabiner (or three) and a harness for the trip?

Another awesome entry!
"Peaks reflecting in Lac Blanc" is my fave!
"Peak near Mont Blanc" is l'Aiguille du Midi, I believe. Skied down from there once.

Very nice 2nd half! I did a variant near the end, going to a small town called Le Buet instead of Argentiere, so it's cool to see it. And I wondered about the Bovine route. I couldn't decide which way to go from Champex, so I let the weather decide for me: nice = Fenetre, not nice = Bovine. I wish I could have done both!
