A friend and I hiked out to Rialto Beach at the end of last week. It was a fabulous sunset.
I had a picnic dinner in the parking lot a week ago Sunday. Nice, but the sunset wasn't like that. Back there in the morning on Monday for a hike to Hole in the Wall. Gave a couple of Ohioans their first taste of the Olympic Coast. They liked it.

Steve and I took a quick jaunt up the Twin Peaks (Horse Lake) road near Wenatchee this morning to check out recent road and TH work. The road has been greatly improved up to the FS boundary and then it's about the same as before. The new TH is not as big as I expected but nice. Also, there is a new facility of some kind in the upper meadow and lots of new mt. bike trails. They are also currently doing some controlled burns in the area. And we got nice views of the core area Enchantments while eating a snack.

Obligatory total eclipse photo. Taken in rural NE Ohio farm country. I got to see the total annular eclipse in Utah last year. The difference between this one and that one was literally like night and day. Never experienced anything like today's eclipse. It got very dark, very fast. Roosters crowing in the distance, bats flying about, and I even could clearly see Jupiter and several other planets/stars. Amazing.

Terrific shot! My brother and his family went to Petit Jean park in Arkansas to view the eclipse. They also saw bats. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/solar-eclipse-2024-north-america-bats-photography?rid=25C1FC947FF630E9AD28811E441B80D2&cmpid=org=ngp::mc=crm-email::src=ngp::cmp=editorial::add=Daily_NL_Tuesday_Science_20240409

It is as though I had read a divine text, written into the world itself, not with letters but rather with essential objects, saying: Man, stretch thy reason hither, so thou mayest comprehend these things. Johannes Kepler

A friend of mine posted these on FB. Pretty neat to see the diamond ring effect and the solar flares.
