In my recent journey through the Ape Caves, one of the non-natural formations we saw in the caves was a black pair of undwear. Yeah, I know, grosser than gross. Who knows why it was lying there. Maybe its owner always changed their underwear at 2:00 in the afternoon, or maybe someone after deliberating for years made the life changing decision to go commando from then on, or maybe they accidentally put on two pairs that day and didn't realize it until they were halfway through the cave. It obviously was something that hadn't journeyed through the cave in the original lava flow. Definitely out of place. We let it lie.

If I were to do a week long trip, I'd take six pairs - a clean one each night. I'll just say it's because I'm female, and not go into the details...

2 pairs of undies and socks for me. One pair is worn while the other gets rinsed and dried for the next day. They're not non-smelly by the end of the trip, but at least they're not crusty.

It wasn't one lie, it was several. It started saying things like
"I smell better than the day I was purchased"
"I've been over Chilkoot Pass and down the PCT. I've fought with pirates and sat in the White House. Elvis and I were here."
"My cousin walks with sasquatches."
Finally it asked if it could borrow my flashlight. I thought it would be dangerous to society to let it out of the cave plus I would be without a light in the same spot it had been. Bottom line? In short, alot of its comments stretched the truth like a week piece of elastic, and there were holes in some of its statements. So we let it lie.
Oh, and it referred to itself as a pair, but there was only one lying around.

me too..
There's a mostly unspoken acknowledgment among the voluntarily impoverished that it's better to be fiscally poor yet rich in experience-living the dream-than to be traditionally wealthy but live separate from one's passions.
