After morning joe and some Led Zeppelin Live I met HittheTrail at his house around 1100 hr. where we started hiking on an upward grade to Castle Rock and up to Chopper Peak, it was cool and overcast which wasn't bad for a burst hike like Chopper Peak.
Chopper Point - Peak
We stopped for a break on the summit, and the ridge looks fairly good with some snow a few miles a head still, a few sunny days and it will be better, we descended on a path going steeply down the SE Ridge. A good quick, calorie burning, cardiovascular workout.
W and Castle Rock. HittheTrail coming up Chopper Ridge with Castle Rock in the background. Chopper Peak a head. Southern Profile of Castle Rock. Old Butte across Number 2 Canyon. Chopper Ridge undulates and winds West towards Twin Peaks Mtn.

I was up there last week trying to escape the westside gloom. First time hiking around Wenatchee and I was amazed at what you guys have directly above town. We parked next to some nice upscale houses and we on our way!

Not a bad idea for a quick morning hike. At least there was no road approach. We just walked across my back yard and HitTheTrail so to speak. That makes the third time in 10 days I have been up there. Once with my daughter and son-in-law, once with my neighbor the “DeerSlayer” and again today with the Wild Man. I wouldn’t think of going up that trail on my own, only when ask to join someone. Too much steep up and steep down!

Celebration Day CD 1, I have them all, I just bought and love Robert Plant and Jimmy Pages "No Quarter" Live. I'm listening to that now.

Hooray for eastside posters is all I have to say! (esp. this time of year- as I gaze out my window at the 1st day of spring)
Don't know what we'd do without ya!
Another one I need to come back & do- we drove right by Castle Rock last Saturday on the way to Horselake TH.

No Quarter from SRTS, the LP version, is the best rock and roll live recording of ALL TIME!!!!! To bad it was remixed on the CD version.

Hey there! Looks nice to be out of the snow. Might you be able to tell me if this is mountain bikable?

The Chopper Point trail is so steep you can hardly hike it. But, drive up #2 canyon road to the end of the pavement, park and get the bike out. From there you can bike all the way to Twin Peaks/Horse Lake Mt. summit. If you want you can even go over the top and come down to the Horse Lake TH. Or, connect into the Sage Hills trail system and come out on 5th St. in Wenatchee. They even spent a ton of money two years ago engineering some nice mt. bike curves and banks into that trail system over by the Horse Lake TH. Locals do versions of that bike loop all the time.

Good shot of the deer.
I have to admit the numerous bare hills topped with rock formations over there all blend together in my mind. I suppose you could say the same for the tree covered knobs here. But you get views all the way up and down, so I'm envious. I go to Phoenix for those kinds of hikes.
