Jeanni wanted to spend her 62sd trip around the sun in the far desert of E. Ore.
So we car camped for 2 nights in various BLM campgrounds. ( pretty cheap way to go).
I was a very much out of my comfort zone (deserts aren't me).
It felt odd to be standing, almost as high as Mt.Baker, and yet
see nothing but sage brush and scrublands.
It was also incredible to see these deep and wide glacier craved valleys.
And then to look out across untold miles of deserts.
There as a patch of snow, brought in from a storm 3 days before.
Which made my husky very happy
We did spend our first and last night at the Crane Hot Springs.
Which I must admit felt pretty good

Steens looks like such a neat place, I really want to check it out along with the Alvord Desert and the Owyhee Canyonlands. It's a huge mountain, in some pictures what looks like a small range is just one fault-block mountain. Those hot springs looked like a nice way to end the trip .
