yes, thank you Gali & Hesman; I bought a big coconut cream pie and ate it. Then went to sign on the dotted line for a spot at the cemetery down the road. Which seems a strange thing to do on one's birthday; but they were having a sale and prices go up July 1.

The Spy Who Came in From the Cold, by John le Carre (Coward-McCann 1963).
Like many modern classics it starts out fairly well, but just okay. Then in the middle of the Contact chapter (Ch. 6) it grabs.
You may notice it's the 1963 edition. There are several more recent editions. So why did I request the library locate the 1963 edition?
