Speaking of that area, isn't the pilchuck road supposed to reopen soon?

I doubt that Pilchuck road will reopen this year as it's too close to the seasonal closure. Heather lake TH is likely to be a zoo.

Hiked it last week, there was fresh pink flagging tape all over indicating they were doing quite a bit of work. Looked to mostly be tread and drainage related. Hopefully they cleared the big blowdown mess before the boulder field too.

I drove by the Pilchuck Rd yesterday and it was still barricaded in the morning. By afternoon on my way out the barricades had been removed. The flashing sign just up the road still said it was closed along with Lake 22.

Probably check it out tomorrow, it's a mile or so from my place here.

Just went there and the barricades are in place so no entry. At the Heather lake TH to the right they have cleared out a huge area, maybe they are going to enlarge the parking lot?

Here's the new enlarged parking area at the Heather Lake TH. I think it needs a little more work.
