This has turned into a great thread with lots of good points. I agree with CC's last post... precise point snowfall measurements are difficult. I'll add that above treeline wind effects add another very difficult set of variables. Wind/snow errors on many snow measuring techniques are already pretty annoying at sea level in 15kt of wind...
