I wasn't expecting much but the movie was a disappointment. Mostly racing scenes with poor dialogue and cardboard characters. Read the book instead.

It's just that when you've got scenes taking place in a locale where there should be Cascades towering off in the horizon, but instead everything in the distance is just flat and level, well... no thanks. Give me any mountains on the horizon, and I'd be fine with it. I'll admit that it's kind of a petty reason to avoid a movie, but I can't shake that feeling.

Okay, I got ya. Well speaking of Vancouver, one of of Jackie Chan's early movies was supposed to be in NYC, but they filmed in BC. Pretty weird seeing big snow capped mountains in the distance. I don't think the Big Apple has those. Or one of the worst ever, The Deer Hunter. Upstate New York or Pennsylvania or wherever they went for a weekend hunting trip, and there's Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan prominently featured in several shots.

Tighter shots in the Cut, in Union Bay, against the backdrop of Lake WA parks. It's not like we saw a great sweeping landscape in the movie--it was just rowing next to a marsh. Campus would have been easy! They only used a couple exterior building shots (of buildings not at UW). Show Suzzallo and the Quad--those buildings are all that old (okay Smith was 1939 but no one will split hairs over that).
