I think it's more of a problem for single guys, like me, to go backpacking with a woman. A single man is automatically assumed to be shopping for LUV everytime he steps out his door. I wouldn't specifically request a male partner for a trip, but I would be remarkably surprised if a woman responded. I don't care who I hike with, as long as our pace and temperment are compatible. Anyways, I'd be too tired and stinky to try and bust a move when it came time to camp.
