The vegetable type. There have been a number of times when I go out for dinner when all I really want is a salad. Some dinners come with decent ones. The Olive Garden isn't too bad. Any suggestions? Preferably from Lynnwood to B'ham. Maybe east or westard too.

For the price, you can't beat Alfy's (Smokey Point) salad buffet. $2.99 unlimited. If you want chili or soup on top of that, add a buck. The other day I had two bowls of chili and three plates of salad. Olive Garden has them beat when it comes to taste though.

Zoopa might fit the bill, but they are more southerly and have had a couple closures. frown.gif Black Angus might be worth looking at. Last one I went to was in Montana and it had a good salad bar. I'm not sure if any here do. Note the menu listed in the link is a take-out menu. Locations and menu...

Never. Salads are a compliment to some form of meat. Preferably red, ideally just short of still breathing and coated with cheese and / or A1. hockeygrin.gif

The new Redmond Fred Meyer has an excellent salad bar ($4.99 lb.). Sure, it's eastside, but it's close to my office so I hit it about two or three times a week. Anything you could want on a salad you'll likely find it there. And they keep it fresh, clean, tidy, and well stocked. I don't know about other Freddie's, like Lynnwood, because I don't grab lunch or do grocery shopping there generally.

Stones....I very much enjoy the Brewers Salad at McMinamins. There's one on the Bothell Everett Highway near 164th. Terrific salad...goes great with the Terminator Stout.....yum.... epicure.gif

Never. If it's still twitchin and a kickin, It's not for me. Salads, nice when you want something light and crispy and not walk away bloated. I find them refreshing at times. I thought of SA's BA but the local on Evergreen Way looks to be closed. Never thought of Freddies. Might give then a try as well as McMinamins. Never heard of em but sounds nice. Now, if I can just get to Juneau for some Crab legs. Thanks

The Boundary Bay brew pub has really good and creative salads in B'ham. Also check out the Skagit Valley Coop in downtown Mt. Vernon - good salad bar and excellent deli case.

Yep, Costco has a variety of salads but they are way more than a single serving. Find them back in the grocery section. I like that spinach one that comes with mushrooms, red onions, bacon, little red tomatoes, and a tasty dressing. It's dinner for two.

the best salads for me are the ones I make my self! Plus it is cheaper and you can get 10 salads for the same price as 2 or 3 pre-made wilted stuff.

Tazz is spot on with the homemade salad thing. If you don't have enough good ideas for what to put in a salad, get yourself a salad-specific cookbook. I have a great one from Sunset that came out in the '60s that I turn to when I need a little salad inspiration.
