After seeing some of the pics and the stories my dad has Tuck and Robin has quickly climbed to the top of "absolutely must to this season" list. Does anybody know how much snow's up there if any and if there are any campsites i should check out?

it's probably melting out fast but I'd wait until mid July. As for campsites, they're all pretty good because the area is nice, but you probably won't get your pick because it's pretty much a mob scene. I'd vist the lakes but camp at the tarns E of there or by one of the Potholes to the N. Or go during the week, but even that's no guarantee anymore.

Agree with Mtn Goat. Wait until later in the year. I went up on a Thursday in Early October of 2000 and had the place all to myself. biggrin.gif

Ah yes. The power of a picture. Now there's a debate we haven't had for the third time yet. How 'bout it?

I have been hiking in that area every week and there is a lot of snow up there.I was at Cathedral rock on the 15th and the snow was four feet deep. I would like to also go to Robin but it looks like a July hike this year. frown.gif Here is a photo of deep lakeat 4380’ taken on the 15th.

Well, there's a nice glossy color picture in the 100 hikes book, better than any I've seen posted here. So is it the pictures or the talking? Discuss, be specific. tongue.gif

In other words... don't go there because it is one of my favorite places and I want to keep as many people away as I can! One of the BEST EVER TRAIL REPORTS was written by the above renowned hiker regarding the before mentioned lakes.

Go in early August. Have a lot of water before you begin your climb up the ridge from Hyas lake (or get a real early start). Make sure you climb the ridge line behind upper Robin lake and take a look at the lakes down the valley! TB
