When Tom saw my new trailhead car he asked me to let him know if I found another one. Well, this one is a lot nicer (and rarer) than mine: 1980 Subaru Ski Car on EBAY

Just saw the sweetest little creampuff for sale last night. An early, early 80s Brat with canopy on the corner of Fauntleroy and Alaska Way SW in West Seattle. Looked spotless when driving by! Didn't stop, don't know how much they're asking but a clean looking car nontheless.

We are lucky here when it comes to old cars in general (no salt) and old Subes in particular (lots of them). The ones I like best are getting harder and harder to find though. Mine is a litte rougher than I would prefer (a few dings, 20-year-old carpet, a rip in the driver's seat and a hole where the former owner's stereo was), but still in pretty good shape. If I ever find a truly excellent 4WD '82-'84 wagon or '82-'89 hatchback, I'l buy it and sell my '83 wagon, though. That "ski car" was tempting, but in '80 they had a 1600cc engine and a single range transmission.

Dang. A 1980 with only 110,000 miles. If you had given that thing to me in 1980 it would 500,000K!

Art is an adventure.

I hate it when people who OWN their cars are clueless about them. That car is a 1982. 1980 and '81 had single large ROUND head lights. '82 had single square lights, and '83-'84 had four smaller rectangular lights. TB
