One of my best friends from college moved up to Seattle in late December and like me he loves to hike. So I took him, his girlfriend along with another close friend to their first hike in Washington. I settled on Twin Falls, a nice scenic, easy hike.
We got there around noon and was it crazy there. Cars everywhere and people all over the place. Definitely not a hike to seek solitude and freedom from civilization.
The first thing I notice was how dry it was. You could tell it hadn't rain in a while plus the river was really low and here I thought that the Wallace River looked like a creek. I told my friends that usually it is damp and it has a temperate rain forest feel to it.
When we got to the Old Cedar Tree we went off the trail to the river to get over to Twin Falls and my friend Mike said the words I wanted to hear "Let's get to the other side of the river". His girlfriend and our friend thought we were nuts . On my first attempt I fell in the river. I couldn't help but laugh while people were taking pictures of me in it. Luckily I didn't fall all the way in.
Well we didn't give up and we found a long log and we turned it into a bridge and across we went boulder hoping our way over.
Twin Falls has always giving me a case of OCD. I have always wanted to get a peak at that corner where the falls hit the water but you can't see it from any view. Finally I got to see it and it was pretty cool!

Took a few more and I was impressed on how lean the falls looked from that viewpoint across the river. By then our other two hikers were getting restless so we went back over to the other side, but not before taking some pics. I wishI could have spend more time to take more pics after the sun would have gone away from the falls.

We rejoined or friends and by then the only thing they could talk about was food. I was in "Hiking Mode" and I usually don't get hungry till I'm off the trail and back on the road or setting up camp. Got a quick view at Middle Twin Falls and then set off to the Casino for food.

My college friend and I wanted to get to see more, but we decided we had put the other two through enough suffering so we decided we come back alone when we can explore as we please. I've done this hike more times than I can count, and it always has a new surprise for me.
Really nice shots of the falls! I haven't been there in years and I know I didn't see that view. I'll have to go back soon (or maybe wait for a little rain!)

Love the waterfall shots!
Sorry I missed saying hi to you Obi. I think me and Jared were on the river throwing rocks when you and the LB clan hiked by.
I've been to Twin Falls more than my fair share of times but never had a picture as successful as your first. Now I know I have to do some swimming for the good angle Thanks for the secret ~Jo
Thanks you guys for those picture comments!
The first time I ever tried to ford the river was a couple of years ago when I decided to make myself a "Titanic Double Hull" river crossing device. I put two large garbage bags over each leg and started crossing the river. I hit a rock and just like the Titanic my "double hull" failed halfway across the river and I made a mad dash back to the river bank.
After getting this view of the falls I just have to go back!
