From Stevens Pass we drove east for 7.5 miles and parked (2775') in a turnout on the north side of US-2... the turnout is located ~1.5 miles east of the Stevens Pass Nordic Center and is the first turnout after passing underneath the train tracks.
Our group (BarbE, Snowdog, iraman, rodman and me) crossed US-2... beat the brush for a very short distance to the train tracks and hiked east along the tracks for 1.3 miles... where we left the tracks at railroad milepost 1698 and headed uphill on steep terrain.
We found patchy snow at 3400 feet and continuous snow at 3700 feet. We reached Arrowhead's east ridge at 4600' and followed it west to the summit (6030') to find spectacular views in all directions.
We put on our snowshoes 500 feet below the summit... and would have done so earlier if Snowdog (step-kicking machine) had not been on the trip... ice ax not required.
This is a steep hike, gaining over 3400 feet of elevation in roughly 2.5 miles.
7.5 miles roundtrip, gaining 3506 feet of elevation.
GPS route and photos of our snowshoe trip to Arrowhead Mountain.

you neglected to mention how enjoyable the railroad walk was- Isabel especially seemed to like it..
She kept looking at me as if to ask " what the heck kind of trail is this?" (I think the pumice rocks hurt her widdle paws)

Beautiful! I enjoyed Arrowhead summit. Love those views, especially towards the Chiwaukum area.
