Yikes. Apparently the discovery was made Oct 12. Still no details. From the Bellingham Herald: A suitcase containing possible human remains was found by people fishing on Oct. 12 in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area in Whatcom County. Detectives from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office interviewed the two fishermen, and the remains were passed along to the Whatcom Medical Examiner, Deb Slater spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office told The Bellingham Herald on Monday evening. The case is still under investigation and no further details were available.

That is beyond startling. Sounds like the beginning of a bad movie, hard to believe this is reality.

I can't remember the last time I ended up in my suitcase on vacation... hmmm.gif

I wonder if they opened the suitcase. If I reeled up a suitcase, no way would I open it.

I think the reservoir got pretty low this fall, so I would guess the fishers saw it on the exposed lake shore. Records indicate over 600 people are reported to go missing each year in Washington. The remains found might end up being linked to a missing person.

No way I could have resisted opening it and regretted it thereafter.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

The road to the North end of the lake has been washed out for several years. The BC government is hoping to reopen the road next April.

But the body was found near Hozomeen, so other explanations would involve carrying a suitcase for a long ways and then renting a boat or using a small canoe etc. No telling how long the suitcase has been there, it could have predated the washout, or floated down the Skagit from above. Or tossed out of a plane.

There’s absolutely no way that number is anywhere close to true. That’s almost 2 people a day, every single day. How does that seem remotely believable?
