Anybody recognize these guys. Seen by Kelly Creek this a.m. off HWY2. Was thinking Pine Martin but they have awfully big necks for a PM or weasel. One ran right into the bushes but the other danced around on the road for a minute or so for me.

That would be worth reporting to WDFW and Cascade Carnivore Project (and maybe Cascades Wolverine Project too) Looks like a fisher to me. I suppose it could be a small wolverine but that might be due to the low resolution photo?

I think that's probably it. Fishers are somewhat similar to marten but bigger. Don't think that could be a wolverine, too long/lanky looking.

Toss up between fisher and river otter?

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

I like how it’s doing the “hover walk” in the first pic.

Fisher makes sense, I had forgotten about those. Thanks for the I.D. help! I have been lucky enough to come across plenty of Pines and weasels and have had a wolverine encounter and the Fisher seen today seemed to be a blend of all three.

The fisher pic at the top of this page looks exactly like your first photo: https://planetforward.org/story/fishers-weasels-native-species/

Fisher. I had one come into the edge of my backcountry camp ( in Upper Peninsula of Michigan) summer before last. It was snarling enough that I picked up my hiking pole. It backed off but for a few moments I thought it wouldn't.

I agree on the Fisher. I saw one once 25 years ago in the Silver Star Creek area.

Definitely a fisher. WDFW absolutely would want to hear about this encounter if you don't mind sharing with them Jeff Lewis @ WDFW, ( he's the Fisher specialist ) I contacted him about my trail cam capture. He was thrilled. Nice guy
